C-400 - Best Practice For Installation
As the C-400 Facial Recognition clocking terminal uses 2 cameras to detect faces, it is important that the device(s) is installed at the correct height and in the correct location.
Installation Height
The recommended height for the C400 terminal is around a height of 1.1m (to the mark on the triangular backplate) though you may need to adjust this slightly to take into account the varying heights of the staff clocking in.
The ideas is that employees should be looking down into the clock camera.
Below is the correct position for enrolling and for verification (clocking in/out)
For users between 5 and 6 feet tall (1.55m - 1.85m) we recommend employees stand around 2 feet (0.5m) from the device,
You may need to adjust your position depending on the lighting around and above the unit.
Lighting Environment
In some situations, factory skylights (the ones that allow natural light into the factory - not LED or strip lights) can cause light interference with the cameras.
It is best to ensure that the camera is NOT pointing towards these lights if possible, this is due to changing lighting conditions that occur.
We would also not recommend placing the clocks next to a window, again this is due to the changing lighting conditions that occur through the day.
COVID
During the Covid pandemic staff will be wearing facemasks. This may affect the facial recognition algorithms.
If an employee has registered their face WITHOUT a mask, then best practice is to clock in/out without the mask.
If an employee has registered WITH a mask this may cause clocking issues as the mask may be in a different position every time they clock or they may be wearing different face coverings. We suggest that they re-register their face WITHOUT the mask and clock in/out without the mask.
