Access Control 2.4 - Setting up Time Zones
This article details how to set up Time Zones in Access 2.x. This is useful if you want to prevent staff members from clocking in at particular times of the day. It has applications for attendance and access control.
- Firstly click on the 'Time Zone' option at the top of the software.
- You will now have the 'Time Zone Settings' window. Press the 'Add' button.
- You will now have a new window on screen where you can assign the desired Time Zones for each day of the week. The times on the top row represent the start and the times on the bottom row represent the end of the time zone for that day.
For example the settings on Thursday would mean that clockings were allowed between 08:00 and 17:00. Anything outside of this time band would be an invalid clocking. Set the Time Zone ID to 1 (subsequent Time Zones can be numbered 2 and so on) and give the Time Zone an appropriate description. When done press OK. You should now see the new Time Zone in the list. - There are two options for going forwards now. If you have only set up a single Time Zone that will be applied to all staff then you can now press the Upload Settings button. Make sure you have selected a device before pressing this button. Example below (If you want to upload user specific access settings then proceed to step 5).You can then make additional device selections if you wish and choose if you want to upload general AC Options or User Specific AC Options. In this case ticket the 'AC Options' box and press 'OK' to upload. The software will now upload the settings to the clock. You will see if this has been done successfully by checking the bottom right of the main software screen.
- The other option is to upload unique access settings for each member of staff. To set this up go to 'Access Levels'.
- You will now have the Access Level Settings window on screen. Press the 'Edit Access Levels' button.
- You will now have the User Access Levels Settings window.
- This window lists all clocking terminals and all employees on the left hand side. You can move selections of these employees/terminals over to the right by clicking on names/devices and using the arrow keys. This allows you to configure access settings for specific people on specific clocking terminals. For example the below screen shot would apply the settings in 'Time Zone 1' to 'Test Employee' on the 'Test C200' device only. Make sure to set Verify Mode to 'FP/PW/RF'. You can set up to three different Time Zones per access level. When done press Access Allow. You will get a small confirmation window. If you need to delete Access Levels make a similar selection as above then press Access Deny. This will remove any rights for the selected employees and clocking terminals. Note it is integral that you have at least one employee and one clocking terminal selected.
- Close down the User Access Levels window and you should now be able to see the new access level in the previous screen.
- Repeat the above process for whatever access levels you need to create. When done perform an Upload Settings function and make sure to tick the User AC options before pressing OK. This will upload the user specific access levels instead of the generic time zones to the whole device.
