C240 - Fingerprint Issues - Three Stage Process
Sometimes people with very dry hands can find it hard to clock in (you might be familiar with this if you use iPads and other types of swipe screen as well). They probably just need a very small amount of moisture on the finger to get a clear reading – try breathing hard on the finger before putting it on the scanning screen. Failing this quickly washing the hands should also work.
Stage 1 - Delete User
Please see below on how to delete out the employee:
- Press the Menu button and when prompted with 'admin affirm' along the top of the screen, swipe the admin card.
- Navigate to User Manage and press OK
- Navigate to Delete and press OK
- Type in the ClockRite ID for the employee you are having the issue with (101 for example) and press OK
- It will prompt with 'Delete?', press OK
Once you have done this, you will need to resend the employees back to the clock to get them re-registered.
Stage 2 - Re-register fingerprints
These instructions explain how to register fingerprints on the C240 just in case you need.

The link below shows the correct fingerprint registration procedure.

If these stages do not work, then please try the next stage.
Stage 3 - ID number lookup
If for some reason the above process is not reliable, users can improve their fingerprint success rate by following the instructions below:
- Each user will need their ClockRite ID number (e.g. 101)
- Prior to placing their finger on the reader, the user should enter their ID number
- Now press either the OK or the M/OK button
- The clock will prompt them for a fingerprint
- The user should then present their fingerprint
Following this process is more efficient as the terminal only searches for a match against their individual record
