Troubleshooting Facial Issues
While facial biometric clocking is generally very reliable, some users may have difficulty for the following reasons:
1) Poor initial registration
The terminal recognises users based on their initial registration. If the initial registration is poor, the terminal will find it more difficult to match subsequent facial scans to the user profile. In this case the user's face should be re-registered. Facial issues can often be resolved by obtaining a more consistent registration.
2) Wearing Glasses
Very much like passport photo and border control, facial bio-metrics work better if glasses are not worn due to anti reflective coatings and polarizing glass. If you are having problems registering your face please re-register without wearing your glasses.
3) Poor Lighting - Clock Location
As the C-400 Facial Recognition clocking terminal uses 2 cameras to detect faces, it is important that the device(s) is installed at the correct height and in the correct location.
Installation Height
The recommended height for the C400 terminal is around a height of 1.1m (to the mark on the triangular backplate) though you may need to adjust this slightly to take into account the varying heights of the staff clocking in.
The ideas is that employees should be look down into the clock camera. Below is the correct position for enrolling and for verification (clocking in/out)
For users between 5 and 6 feet tall (1.55m - 1.85m) we recommend employees stand around 2 feet (0.5m) from the device, You may need to adjust your position depending on the lighting around and above the unit.
Lighting Environment
In some situations, factory skylights (the ones that allow natural light into the factory - not LED or strip lights) can cause light interference with the cameras.
It is best to ensure that the camera is NOT pointing towards these lights if possible, this is due to changing lighting conditions that occur.
We would also not recommend placing the clocks next to a window, again this is due to the changing lighting conditions that occur through the day.
Re-Registerng Faces
This process may differ slightly depending on the model of your Clocking Terminal. Please check the images below against the menu screen and follow the relevant steps.
